Lakeland Prep School Bands Pushing to New Heights

by Brent Hopper
Middle School Band Director
Lakeland Preparatory School

The Lakeland Preparatory School Bands continue to push to new heights and levels of excellence. The high school marching band, under the direction of Micaiah Radcliffe, Brent Hopper, and Rebecca Hanna, competed in the Division II State Marching Band Championship on November 2nd. This competition featured 28 bands with school sizes ranging from 500-1000. Students. Out of the twenty eight bands on the competition, the LPS Marching Band was selected as a finalist with a top ten finish and a superior rating! This marks the third year the band has made finals at a state championship competition. This is made even more impressive by the fact that there are no seniors at this point in the high school band, or at Lakeland Prep. Mr. Hopper stated that this was the highest level of competition he has seen at the Division II level and he is incredibly proud of the students for their tenacity and work ethic. Mr. Radcliffe, Mr. Hopper, and Mrs. Hanna are already making plans for the next fall production!

The middle school and high school band also gave spectacular performances at LPS and LES for the annual Veterans Day program. The beginning band is off to a fantastic start as well. The middle school band is currently preparing for its winter concert on December 10th and the high school band is preparing for its winter concert on December 17th.

The band winter apparel sale has also started! Feel free to visit the link below to access the webstore. Proceeds benefit the LPS middle school and high school band.
