Lakeland Prep Runners Sweep Top Spots At First Cross Country Meet

The Lakeland Prep Cross Country team kicked off their 2020 cross country season this past Tuesday evening (September 8, 2020) as they competed in the 2020 Coach Simmons Memorial XC Meet. Both the boys team and the girls team competed in the two mile meet. The event was hosted by Collierville Middle School and was held at W.C. Johnson Park in Collierville. The race included strong teams from Lakeland Prep, Collierville, West Collierville and Houston.

In the boys race, 7th grader Porter Spiceland took the top spot with a impressive winning time of 12:20. In all, 14 boys ran for the Lakeland squad. The Lakeland Lion runners consisted of: Porter Spiceland, Ryan Patrikios, Davis Hardee, Maddox Santos, Clark Wade, Alex Harden, Luke Laurenzi, Adam Atkinson, John Ma, Hudson Parsely, Nathan Hartley, Hayden Grady, Ramy Karras, and Devin Conway.

On the girls’ side, 7th grader Maui Boles also cruised to victory with another impressive time of 13:19. The girls team had 7 runners consisting of: Maui Boles, Molly Magness, Emelyn Robertson, Kayla Taylor, Siham Jemal, Taylor Townsend, Silva Arana.

Maui and Porter will be freshman the first year of the new high school (opening August 2022) so the future looks bright for the Lakeland Prep High School cross country team.

Both Prep teams will be back in action next week as Memphis Youth Athletics (MYA) begins their 5-week season at Shelby Farms Park.
