In a heartfelt Wednesday morning assembly, the Lakeland Prep administration, faculty, and students gathered to honor veterans, creating a patriotic atmosphere for the more than fifteen hundred individuals in attendance on the Lakeland Prep campus. The resonating notes of patriotic music set the tone, with the Lakeland Prep Band delivering a moving performance of “Fanfare Americana” to open the ceremony. The event continued with students leading the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the Lakeland Prep Choirs harmonizing through the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
The highlight of the ceremony held in the high school gym was a powerful address by Captain Kittrel Robinson, a distinguished faculty member and speaker. Captain Robinson shared valuable insights and motivations, underscoring the significance of service and the resilient mindset required to achieve success.
Adding a nice touch to the proceedings, fifth-grade students entertained the audience with a rendition of “Fifty Nifty.” The Lakeland Prep Orchestra then took the stage, delivering a moving performance of “Freedom Finale.” The musical segment culminated with the Lakeland Prep Band’s rendition of an “Armed Services Medley,” providing a moment for attendees to recognize and appreciate the sacrifices made by those who have served in the armed forces.
Thursday morning the tribute to veterans continued at Lakeland Elementary School, with a significant presence around the podium and a heartfelt parade featuring veteran families. The event not only celebrated the bravery and dedication of veterans but also fostered a sense of unity within the Lakeland community.
