Lakeland Prep Marching Band Shines in Debut at Arlington Open Invitational

The Lakeland Preparatory School (LPS) Marching Band made an impressive entrance into the 2024 competition season with a standout performance at the Arlington Open Invitational Band Competition on September 21st. Competing against a talented lineup of bands from across West Tennessee and Northern Mississippi, the LPS Marching Band showcased their 2024 production, When the Forest Calls.

The evening marked several firsts for the band, including the debut of their vibrant new uniforms and eye-catching props. Their high-energy performance captivated both judges and spectators, earning them top honors in several categories. The LPS Marching Band secured first place in both band and percussion within their class, and took second place in color guard. Additionally, the band excelled in overall categories, clinching first place in music and second place in the gold division. To top it off, they were also voted fan favorite by the audience.

Band directors expressed immense pride in the students’ achievements and emphasized the crucial role the community plays in the band’s success. They acknowledged the ongoing support from families, friends, and local sponsors.
