The Lakeland Prep Marching Band closed out its 2025 season with a milestone achievement, earning a 3rd place bronze medal at the Tennessee Division 2 State Marching Band Championship. The band rose through a competitive field of 26 schools during preliminaries to secure a spot in the top 10 and advance to the finals.

During the championship finals, the band performed again—this time in harsh conditions, including cold weather, heavy wind, and steady rainfall. Despite the challenging environment, the students delivered a standout performance, earning a score of 92.9. The score marks the highest in the program’s history and sealed the band’s 3rd place overall finish.

Band Director Micaiah Radcliffe said the accomplishment reflects the students’ commitment and hard work. He noted that the students dedicated countless hours to perfecting their show and continually improving throughout the season. Radcliffe said it was rewarding for the staff to watch their efforts pay off in such a meaningful way.

Radcliffe also emphasized the role of parent volunteers and community support in the program’s success. He shared that each marching season requires significant planning and coordination, and that this achievement would not have been possible without strong support behind the scenes. The quick response and teamwork of staff and parents during the rainy finals performance ensured the students could focus solely on their performance, even under added pressure.

He also credited the instructional staff—Jocelyn Hembruch, Brent Hopper, Rebecca Hanna, Ben Atkinson, and Bo Jackson—for bringing the production to life and helping the students reach this milestone.

With a state medal and a school-record score, the Lakeland Prep Marching Band ends the 2025 season on a high note, celebrating progress, resilience, and a growing legacy of excellence.
