The Lakeland Prep Lions opened their 2025 football season on the road against a tough Covington squad last Friday night, a team fresh off a state playoff run. While the Lions came up short on the scoreboard, 56-21, sophomore standout Anden Quinn delivered a performance that turned heads and earned him recognition as this week’s Athlete of the Week.
Normally a wide receiver, Quinn stepped into the quarterback role in the season opener while starter Brett Godwin continued recovering from offseason surgery. Despite the challenge, Quinn showcased his versatility and leadership, making an immediate impact on both sides of the ball.
Quinn finished the night with 201 passing yards and three touchdown passes, showing poise in the pocket and accuracy downfield. His contributions weren’t limited to offense—he also recorded nine tackles on defense and gave the Lions a spark on special teams with two kick returns for a total of 88 yards.
“Anden is the type of athlete who can play anywhere on the field,” said Prep Head Coach Tyler White. “He stepped up when his team needed him most and delivered.”
With Godwin set to return later in the season, Quinn will transition back to his usual wide receiver role, where his playmaking ability will continue to be a key part of the Lions’ offense.
