Lakeland Prep Arts Programs End The Year On A High Note

Tuesday Night Lakeland Prep Bands closed out the school year with themes from Wicked. The High School Gym was filled with family and friends to enjoy the annual event that performs music from a different movie each year. Tonight, the Choir program will have a concert open to the public at 6:30pm in the Auditorium. The music from the concert will be showcasing a broad range of repertoire ranging from the classical period to contemporary, and languages such as Spanish, Latin, and even Zulu according to Mr. Hansen. As the program grows, they will continue to expand their reach as far as accessible music, and we are excited to continue performing and growing! The Lakeland Prep Orchestra will be holding their final concert May 8th at 6:30 showcasing mostly movie themes from many decades.

The Band program had quite the year according to Mr. Hopper middle school band director they performed in a Fall Concert, Middle School Veterans Day Program, the LES Veterans Day program, Winter Concert, All West Auditions, the All-West Honor Band, Midwinter Concert, WTSBOA Concert Festival, Beginning Band Showcase, and the “Blast from the Past” Spring Concert. The LPS Middle School Band had 25 students selected to the All-West Honor Band, having one of the highest student percentages to make a regional honor band in the state. The band also received straight superior ratings once again at WTSBOA Concert Festival.

The LPS High School Band received several superior ratings and were a Division 2 State Marching Band Championship Finalist. The high school band also performed in the high school Veterans Day Performance, All West Auditions, All West Honor Band, Winter Concert, Festival Showcase Concert, WTSBOA Concert Festival, and the first ever “Glimpse of the Future” Spring Concert. The high school band had 30 students selected to All West Honor Band, and three of these students made the All-State Honor Band. The high school band also received straight superior ratings at WTSBOA Concert Festival.
