The planning director for Lakeland, Forrest Owens, has submitted his letter of resignation today (1.15.20), according to Shane R. Horn, Lakeland city manager.
Mr. Horn said Mr. Owen’s last day will be Feb. 14th. He was hired by Lakeland in December 2018 and started the planning director position Jan. 7, 2019.
“Forrest has been a great addition and team member. I have appreciated the knowledge, professionalism and leadership Forrest provided during a busy development year in Lakeland” said Mr. Horn. “We wish Forrest and his family the very best moving forward.”
From Mr. Owens, “The last 12 months at Lakeland have been very enjoyable. Unfortunately, I need to return to my role as a private planning consultant in order to have more flexibility and better meet the needs of our family. Lakeland is a great community and I look forward to watching its continued growth and success.”
Mr. Owens replaced Cory Brady who started as planning director in January 2018 and resigned in August that same year.
