LAKELAND, TN – Following the sex crime incident at the Super 8 Motel on Tuesday afternoon, Lakeland City officials have been monitoring the situation and working in close coordination with law enforcement and the District Attorney’s office. Mayor Wyatt Bunker and city commissioners have directed the city attorney to research and pursue all possible options to make sure Lakeland area hotels are safe and compliant.
“Sex crimes and sex trafficking is a growing epidemic in America and we will not tolerate any area business that makes these crimes possible.” Mayor Bunker continued, “The safety of our citizens is our main objective and we will be diligently pursuing all legal options to make sure Lakeland area businesses represent the culture we expect.”
Lakeland officials will announce a special called meeting once all legal options are presented to the board of commissioners.
