Commissioner Matt Wright and School Board Chairman Kevin Floyd attended State Rep. Ron Lollar’s 11th annual fish fry Saturday afternoon in Bartlett. The event is put on every year by Bubba Pleasant and Ron Lollar as a way to bring community members and elected officials together. 350 pounds of fried catfish was served along with hush puppies, fries and lemonade.
Approximately 30 elected officials (local, state and federal) were introduced to the crowd including Sen. Lamar Alexander, U.S. Rep. David Kustoff, State Sen. Mark Norris who was just appointed to a federal judge position by President Trump, speaker of the Tennessee house Beth Harwell, along with many local officials including Mr. Wright and Mr. Floyd representing Lakeland.
Kevin Floyd said, “events like these help us meet and develop key relationships. Those relationships are important because it helps not just with our school system but our families as well.” Matt Wright added, “anytime you can talk about Lakeland and what we are doing to bring value to Shelby County to someone like Rep. Kustoff it helps. You never know how those relationships in Washington can potentially help Lakeland down the road. It’s worth our time on a Saturday to represent Lakeland like this.”
