Lakeland Schools took their music on the road last week to book fairs at Barnes and Noble book store in Cordova for events sponsored by LEF (Lakeland Education Foundation).
Tanya Wallace, LEF chairman, said the Lakeland Elementary School (LES) Glee Club performed for the Nov. 30 event. Kindergarten teachers read to their pajama-clad students who snacked on milk and cookies.
A book fair for LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) was Nov. 29 and featured the LMPS Orchestra directed by Paula Turner, along with a scavenger hunt and Lego building competition for students.
Mrs. Wallace said LEF awarded $2,000 in books to the LMPS library, a split between fiction and non-fiction books on the school’s wish list.
