Lakeland Father-Son Team Revives MULLY Sports Towel

A Lakeland entrepreneur is bringing back a product that once gained a loyal following among golfers, while expanding the brand to serve outdoor enthusiasts across the country.

Jeff Mullen, founder of MULLY Sports Towel who lives on Garner Lake, has officially relaunched the company after pausing operations during the COVID-19 pandemic. The redesigned product line now includes specialized retractable towels for golfers, anglers, and grilling enthusiasts.

Originally introduced as a convenient solution for golfers, the MULLY Golf Towel became popular for its retractable design that kept a clean towel within easy reach throughout a round. According to Mullen, the newly relaunched lineup builds on that concept with three distinct products: the MULLY Golf Towel, MULLY Fishing Towel, and MULLY Grilling Towel. Mr. Mullen also stated the updated products feature enhanced materials, improved durability, and design refinements based on feedback from customers who used the original version.

The relaunch carries special significance for the Lakeland resident. More than three years ago, Mullen was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer, a challenge that prompted him to reassess both his personal and professional goals.

Rather than simply restarting a business, Mullen saw an opportunity to create something lasting alongside his son, Jordan Mullen, who has joined the company and is helping lead its next phase of growth.

“Facing cancer gave me a new perspective on life,” Mullen said. “Relaunching MULLY isn’t just about selling towels—it’s about building a legacy with my son and creating something we’re proud to share together.”

The family-owned business hopes the expanded product lineup will appeal to golfers, fishermen, grill masters, campers, and other outdoor enthusiasts who value convenience and durability in the field, on the water, or in the backyard.

The company is also preparing for a major milestone this summer. The MULLY Fishing Towel is scheduled to make its official debut in July at the annual ICAST trade show, recognized as one of the world’s largest sportfishing industry events.

Looking ahead, MULLY Sports Towel plans to expand distribution through golf shops, tackle stores, sporting goods retailers, specialty outdoor stores, and online sales channels nationwide.
