Lakeland Elementary School students showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in a unique and heartfelt way on Friday, October 4th, 2024. The students donned pink attire and gathered on the front lawn of the school at 10:15 a.m. to form a “living ribbon of hope,” symbolizing their commitment to raising awareness for breast cancer.

The event, led by kindergarten teacher and breast cancer survivor Mrs. Lorna Miller, is a significant display of solidarity. Mrs. Miller, who has been a passionate advocate for breast cancer awareness, organized the event to inspire both her students and the broader community.

“Mrs. Miller is a wonderful example of courage, awareness, and support,” said Lakeland Elementary School Principal, Mrs. Joretha Lockhart. “We greatly appreciate her dedication to breast cancer awareness and all things pink.”

Mrs. Lockhart emphasized the school’s commitment to encouraging students to give back and support community causes. “We encourage our little lions to donate, support, and give back to various organizations in our community. It’s exciting to see everyone come together to create this living ribbon, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”

The students’ participation in Breast Cancer Awareness Month not only highlights the importance of community involvement but also teaches the younger generation about compassion, awareness, and making a difference in the lives of others.
