Lakeland Boy Scout Working To Build A Foot Bridge On Local Trail

Richard Fabacher

Over the years Lakeland has benefited greatly from the contributions of Eagle Scouts, particularly at IH Park on Canada Road. The park is a cherished public space in Lakeland, enjoyed by countless visitors. Richard Fabacher, a member of Boy Scout Troop 455 in Lakeland is an avid runner of the park’s cross-country trails. Recently, he noticed a large ditch with a small stream running through it on the trails.

Richard taking measurements of the foot bridge location he plans to build.

Richard has chosen to tackle this issue for his Eagle Scout project. He plans to construct a bridge over the ditch, making it easier and safer for everyone who visits the park, not just his cross-country team. Richard shared his motivations for the project in a Facebook post, explaining that he wants to improve accessibility to the park for all visitors.

According to Richard, the bridge will be located on the blue trail leading into the red trail at IH Park. He hopes to begin work in the coming weeks and complete the project by the end of the school year.
