Bobby McBride, the general manager of Back Yard Burgers in Lakeland, has been named “General Manager of the Year” for the restaurant chain with 50 locations in five states.
Mr. McBride received the award this spring at the annual conference at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville. He said there are corporate and franchised locations in Memphis, Nashville, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and South Carolina.
He has been at the Lakeland location, 9000 U.S. Highway 64 at Fletcher Trace Parkway, three years and with the restaurant chain since 2005.
Sales at the Lakeland location are just short of $1 million, said Mr. McBride, and he is working to surpass that $1 million plateau.
Mr. McBride said Darrius Phillips of Memphis was given the District Manager of the Year Award.
He is from Greenwood, MS but came to Memphis in 2000 after finishing college. His mother and seven siblings live in the Memphis area.
