A Lakeland Prep athlete received a big honor last week, the first in the new school’s history.
Taylor Townsend won the Commerical Appeals girls athlete of the week poll beating out athletes from Brighton, Lewisburg, and Munford for the award. The award is an online poll that allows fans to vote for the winner and Lakeland residents helped spread the word on social media to go vote for Taylor. Ms. Townsend is a 14-year-old freshman at Lakeland Prep School and plays soccer for the high school team. Taylor was nominated for athlete of the week for her three goals and three assists performance against Scotts Hill in the Jackson (TN) Northside Tournament held the weekend of September 8, 2023.
Taylor and the Lions are undefeated in conference soccer play this season and are hoping to make another run for the state tournament in October.
