Seven Lakeland students are among 36 Arlington High School (AHS) cheerleaders who took honors at the National High School Cheerleading Championship Feb. 10-11 in Orlando.
Tyler Hill, communications coordinator for Arlington Community Schools, said both the Varsity and Junior Varsity cheer teams won World Championship titles, earning them white jackets. He said this is an award only given to competition winners. At the national competition, JV placed 3rd and Varsity placed 8th.
Cheer team members from Lakeland are Caroline Fencl, Emily Hodge, Rachel Jensen, Brandy Kenney, Cassidy McKeegan, Taylor VanDuzee, and Katie Ward.
Lakeland students attend AHS as part of an interlocal agreement between Arlington Community Schools and the Lakeland School System (LSS) until a high school is built in Lakeland.
