The Lady Lions Soccer Team won its inaugural soccer game tonight (8.23.18) at the USA Stadium Complex against Millington Middle School. The LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) roster comprises 22 athletes from sixth through eighth grade.
Coach Megan Criner, a STEM and science teacher at LMPS, said, “I can’t say enough about the LMPS Lady Lions. They have worked so hard and it paid off today. They showed class and great sportsmanship and made Lakeland proud.”
Both Superintendent Dr. Ted Horrell and LMPS Athletic Director Chris Godwin showed their support by attending tonight’s game. Dr. Horrell said of the win, “Watching the first goal scored by the first-ever Lady Lions soccer team was really special. I’m so proud of these young women and their coaches. We’re looking forward to an excellent season of learning and competing.”
The Lady Lions’ next game is Tuesday (8.28.18) at Collierville Middle School.
