Labor Day
According to the Department of Labor, the first Monday in September, which we refer to as Labor Day, was a creation of the labor movement dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. Signed into law by President Grover Cleveland on June 28, 1894, it constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
For most Americans, it has become a long weekend holiday and traditionally signals the end of Summer, complete with pool parties and cook outs.
In keeping with the Labor Day holiday, Team Waste routes for garbage pickup will be delayed one day.
- Monday will pick-up Tuesday
- Tuesday will pick-up Wednesday
- Wednesday will pick-up Thursday
- Thursday will pick-up Friday
- Friday will pick-up Saturday
City Hall, the Lakeland Senior Center (LSC), schools and school offices will be closed in observance of the holiday.
