Among activities at the Lakeland Senior Center (LSC) this month are a Western Hoedown and Craft Corner, according to Kim Odom, LSC manager and special events coordinator.
Western Hoedown
Jan. 24th – 6 p.m. – IH Clubhouse featuring dinner, entertainment, dancing and a chili cook-off contest. Menu is pulled pork and fixings, beans, potato salad and dessert. Entertainment is Big Barton playing classic country and western music provided by Creative Aging.
Put on your favorite dancing boots and join the fun. Best Western Dressed will win a prize. The chili cook-off contest will be a judged competition with trophies awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. There will also be a People’s Choice award. Rules of the chili cook-off are available at the Senior Center. Advance tickets only – available at the Center. There is no entry fee for the chili cook-off but tickets for the dinner are $10 per person. Deadline for tickets is Jan. 21st. Proceeds from the event benefit the Lakeland Senior Center.
Craft Corner
Jan. 14th – 10:30 a.m. – Join us for card-making by Gail Bishop. Bring any old cards you have on hand. We will recycle them. Limited space – must register. Call) 746-8195.
The Lakeland Senior Center is located at 4527 Canada Rd next door to the IH Clubhouse. It is open from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday-Friday and other scheduled times. Phone is 746-8195.
