The new section of Beverle Rivera Drive is open today (8.16.17). The pavement is smooth with bright yellow lines.
The opening on Monday was delayed because of rain.
Huff N Puff Road is no longer a through street.
Jim Atkinson, Lakeland city manager, said the two new lanes that opened today paralleling old Huff N Puff total about 22 feet of width (two eleven-foot lanes). “But this is only half of the finished roadway. The finished product will have two 12-foot lanes of traffic plus 10-foot shoulders on either side. The next part of the project is to remove the Huff N Puff roadbed and prepare it for paving to extend the width of what was opened today,” he said.
There is a message board alerting traffic to the newly opened street.
