The free annual Lakeland Halloween Festival is coming next month with a myriad of activities for children and even contests for the grown-ups.
Kim Odom, Lakeland special events coordinator, said the event is from 1 – 4 p.m. Oct. 21 at IH Park, 423 Canada Road. Sponsors are the Lakeland Lions Club and Trustmark Bank.
Families are invited to this year’s Halloween Festival packed with fun and games, said Mrs. Odom.
“Bring your whole family for this ghoulish Sunday afternoon event. Vendors will be on hand to promote their business or organization and will be giving out treats and goodies. The kids will get a thrill out of Lakeland’s Great Pumpkin Patch filled with pumpkins for the picking. Once they pick out their favorite pumpkin, they can decorate and take it home. “
“This is a free event for families. We hope you will come out and enjoy the fun.”
Activities include: Inflatables, trick-or-treating, face painting, Mr. Mike the Balloon Man, photos with costumed characters, crafts, games, decorating stations, food trucks and Lakeland Snack Bar, and more.
Contests include: Costume Contest at 1:30 p.m.; Pie Eating Contest at 3 p.m. All 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive a trophy. There is the Family Costume category with special prizes.
There will be lots of prize giveaways thanks to donations by Bluff City Escape Rooms, Children’s Museum of Memphis, Jumping World, and more.
Local businesses and organizations can be part of the community event. Contact Mrs. Odom at 746-8195 for details.
