Today marks the beginning of 2020, but is it the actual start of a new decade?
The Farmers’ Almanac and timeanddate.com say Jan. 1, 2020 is not officially the start of a new decade.
The Almanac states a decade begins with a year ending with a 1 (2021) and finishes with 10 (2030)

The website claims “For example, January 1, 2001, opened the 21st century and the start of the new millennium, just as the year 1 A.D. marked the beginning of the Christian era.” The Almanac continues with historical perspective on the confusion.

Decade or not, it is still a new year and in the words of Melody Beattie, “The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written.”
