There was crowing, flying and a lot of “ERRR ERRR ERRR ERRRRRR” for opening night of the first play at LMPS, “Peter Pan Jr.”
Family, friends and area residents filled the Lakeland Preparatory Middle School (LMPS) Cafetorium tonight (4.6.18) for the musical featuring 33 students with the assistance of 7 crew members. All were under the direction of four LMPS teachers: Alison Garland and Mandy Christopher, co-directors; Jessica Washington, choreography; and Allie Barnett, sound and lighting.
There are two more opportunities this weekend to see the play by J. M. Barrie. LMPS is located at 5020 Lions Crest Dr.

There were concessions for sale as well as face painting and T-shirts commemorating the Play printed on the spot by Drew Garland, husband of co-director Alison.
The play stars Hannah Ivy as Peter Pan, the boy who will never grow up; Ivana Cranston plays the tiny fairy, Tinker Bell, who has a larger-than-life-personality; Aditi Ravi, Pierce Browning and Aaron Cranston are the imaginative Darling siblings who learn to fly off to Neverland; Toby Harrell acts as the terrible, terrible Captain Hook: and Kris Shaw plays the gullible first mate Smee.
LMPS opened in August 2017 for grades 5-8. Lakeland Elementary School serves grades K-4. Lakeland students attend Arlington High School through an interlocal agreement until a high school can be built.
