What initially was the report of a driver slumped over the wheel of a car ended up drawing multiple vehicles from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) late this morning (3.1.18) on Davies Plantation Road at Canada Road.
As a deputy checked on the driver, the car rolled backwards into the deputy’s SCSO patrol vehicle, said Earle Farrell, chief public information officer for SCSO. Although there did not appear to be significant damage to either vehicle, Mr. Farrell said the impact between the two cars escalated the number of investigators required on the call.
Mr. Farrell said a citizen saw what appeared to be a driver passed out in his car and alerted authorities. He said no determination had been made as to the cause of the driver being slumped over the wheel, but that a DUI unit was called to the scene.
