Harbor Freight Must Repaint Building For Now

Harbor Freight next to Sprouts. The company must repaint according to city officials.

If you’ve driven down Highway 64 lately you might have noticed a rather large red and blue section of building next to Sprouts on Highway 64. That section of the building is Harbor Freight, the discount tool company that recently announced their plans to expand in Lakeland. The only problem, according to city officials, is they did not have permission for the paint job.

At the May EDC (Economic Development Council), it was originally announced the Calabasas, CA based company was coming to Lakeland. They applied for signage in the vacant space next to Sprouts grocery store and received approvals for their signage. However, no paint scheme was presented to or approved by the city.

Commissioner Wesley Wright told Lakeland Currents that contractors for the company have been notified that they must repaint the building back to the original color. If they would like a different paint scheme, they would need to present those plans to the city for approval. For now, there’s been no word if they plan to seek official approval for the red and blue paint scheme.
