It’s Independence Day in Lakeland and America, a federal holiday commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States July 4, 1776.
Congress established Independence Day as a holiday in 1870, and in 1938 Congress reaffirmed it as a paid holiday for federal employees.

This year the typical celebrations of fireworks, barbecues, picnics and baseball are much different because the City and Country (and the world) are in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
