At last night’s Municipal Planning and Design Review Commission meeting there were multiple agenda items related to Lakeland Town Square, the multi-use development located on Highway 70. One of the key discussions was an application for a standalone building on Lot 2 of Area B within the development. The proposal, submitted by a business applicant, included engineering and architectural plans for the proposed gelato stand. Designed as a walk-up establishment, the business will share parking spaces with nearby venues, adding to the accessibility and appeal of the growing commercial district. Lakeland residents have previously shown strong support for ice cream shops in other parts of the community, suggesting that the gelato stand could be a popular addition to the area.
The walkability of Lakeland Town Square has been a long-standing goal of several city administrations, and this new establishment further complements the pedestrian-friendly vision. Phase 1 of the development already features three restaurants, while Phase 2 is rumored to bring even more businesses to complete the space.
Once completed, the gelato stand will be centrally located within Lakeland Town Square, adding to the area’s vibrant, walkable atmosphere and offering residents another desert option to chose from on a Lakeland evening or weekend.
