From Bartlett, Rep. Lollar was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives in 2006 and served District 99, which included Lakeland, until his death.
From the Lakeland School System:
“We were so saddened to learn of the passing of Tennessee State Representative Ron Lollar this morning. Rep. Lollar was a tireless advocate for his constituents and for education specifically. He played an integral role in the establishment of municipal school systems in Shelby County, and he most recently worked as hard as anyone to be sure 2018 TN Ready scores did not count against teachers, students, or schools. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”
He was on the ballot for the Aug. 2 Shelby County Primary Election as the Republican candidate.
He was a U.S. Marine and the recipient of numerous military awards including the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and the Navy Commendation Medal.
Rep. Lollar earned an associate degree from Jackson State Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Austin Peay State University. He also served in the Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Lollar of Bartlett; daughters Kelly Lollar of Bartlett and Shelby Lollar of Vanleer, TN; son Matthew Lollar of Bartlett; mother Elizabeth Lollar of Jackson, TN; sister Martha Lynn Millrany of Collierville; and brother, Dr. Don Lollar of Lexington, KY.
