The City of Lakeland Parks and Recreation Department will take registrations through Friday (10.19.18) for the Junior Grizzlies Recreational Basketball Program.
Wendi Haley, City recreation program supervisor, said the program partners with the Memphis Grizzlies Youth Basketball.
”Our recreational basketball program will focus on teaching kids the fundamentals, teamwork and understanding of the game,” said Ms. Haley. “Don’t worry if your child has never played basketball, because this is where they’ll learn.”
With the enrollment in the Junior Grizzlies program, all participants will receive a free ticket to the Memphis Grizzlies vs. the Sacramento Kings game Jan. 25. Parents/guardians will have an opportunity to purchase additional tickets for a discounted price. Each participant can attend the pre-game Shootaround. Some lucky participants will take part in the High-Five Tunnel, while some will get a chance to stand on the court next to the Memphis Grizzlies for the singing of the National Anthem.
“Your enrollment also includes a reversible uniform with shorts, a Grizzlies leather basketball, and to commemorate your player’s Junior Grizzlies experience, each player will receive a Certificate of Achievement e-signed by the #4 overall draft pick Jaren Jackson Jr. And, as another incentive to the program your registration fee will include a local Food Truck party at the end of the season
“Don’t miss out on this great opportunity and experience! It is going to be a fun year,” said Ms. Haley.
