The eagerly anticipated Kids Fishing Derby is back in Lakeland this Saturday, May 11th, starting at 8:00 AM at IH Clubhouse on Canada Road. The event promises a day of fun and excitement for young anglers, with multiple sessions of 15 minutes each (or until a boy and girl have caught a fish during the session).
Children are welcome to attend any or all sessions, but must be accompanied by an adult. Each participant is allowed one pole, so don’t forget to bring your own along with bait, as they will not be provided.
Exciting prizes await the winners, including trophies for the Longest Fish of the Day and the Most Fish Caught Overall (separately for boys and girls). Prizes will also be awarded to the first boy and first girl to catch a fish within each session.
Additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA). This event is made possible in part by the generous support of the Lakeland Lions Club and the TWRA.
Registration for the Kids Fishing Derby ends on Friday, May 10th, at 11:59 PM. To register, visit this link. For any questions regarding the event, please call (901) 867-2717 or email recreation@lakelandtn.org.
