Five students from LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) were accepted into the All Southwest Tennessee Junior High Honor Choir during competition Saturday (10.26.19) at Colonial Middle School in Memphis, according to Frances Miller, LMPS choir director.
The Lakeland students were among hundreds from southwest Tennessee who auditioned. They were competing for200 positions in the choir. The event Saturday was sponsored by the West Tennessee Vocal Music Education Association (WTVMEA).
The students are:
- Mariska Davis, 2nd soprano
- Gabrielle Fifer, 2nd alto
- Megan Nichols, 2nd soprano
- Toby Harrell- 4th chair, 1st tenor
- Priya Bakshi- 1st chair, 2nd soprano
Clinic and concert dates according to Mrs. Miller:
Thurs. Nov. 14 – 6 – 9 p.m.
Fri. Nov. 15 – 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Sat. Nov. 16 – 8:30 a.m. – noon
Sat. Nov. 16 – 2 p.m. – Concert
The Concert and rehearsals will be at Greater Imani Church, 3824 Austin Peay Highway, Memphis, she said. The public is invited and admission is $5.
