Get your fishing pole and bait ready, the annual fishing rodeo at IH Park has officially been scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2022. According to organizers at the Lakeland Parks and Recreation department, registering for the event as soon as possible is advised.
The event, which usually attracts well over one hundred participants, will be limited this year due to a lack of parking. The limitation is due to the ongoing construction around the park for the New Canada Road project. Parking for the event will be at Lakeland First Baptist Church which is across the street from the IH Park Clubhouse on Canada Road. The city is encouraging participants to carpool to help with parking.
The fishing rodeo is for kids ages 4-12, and they must be accompanied by an adult. It will begin promptly at 8am. Prizes will be awarded for the most fish caught by a boy and a girl, the longest fish caught, and more. The rodeo is sponsored by the TWRA and the Lakeland Lion’s Club.
