The first ever football game for Lakeland Middle Prep was played last evening at Fayette Academy on a wet field with about 350 in attendance. For a first year team, the Lions played well, especially on defense and the game went to the half 0-0. The lions lost though 22-8. “For our first game in school history, I was happy with the effort” said parent Marty Wood. He continued and said, “As the school gets established and the Lakeland youth program feeds players up to the middle school, you will see some really good teams in the coming years.”
The school had a pep rally earlier in the day and the team was provided a pre game meal by parents and the booster club.
The Lions play Millington next week.
