The LMPS (Lakeland Middle Preparatory School) will have its first-ever Drama Camp June 24-28 on the school campus featuring The Jungle Book.
Directed by LMPS teachers Alison Garland and Mandy Christopher, the camp will give all participants a chance to participate in the show. It is limited to the first 50 students who register and open to rising fifth through eighth graders. Robin Smith, a music teacher at LES (Lakeland Elementary School), will also assist with the Camp.

“We seek to strengthen our student’s craft of acting, but we also just want them to have fun,” said Mrs. Garland. “Sets, props and costumes will be minimal as the main goal is to improve stage presence.”
The camp is from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and will consist of students auditioning and being assigned a role in The Jungle Book and learning their lines in a week, said Mrs. Garland.
It will close with a free performance open to the community at 12:30 p.m. Friday (6.28.19).
Mrs. Garland said the Camp is open to incoming 5th graders from LES as well as all current LMPS students.
The camp will be located in the Cafetorium at LMPS and costs $60 before the early bird deadline of May 24th and then will cost $70 until May 31st.
Registration and more information can be found at www.homegrownimpressions.com/lmps-drama
“We are also looking for two sponsors in the community,” said Mrs. Garland. “We would like one sponsor to purchase the T-shirts for camp attendees as well as one to provide light refreshments for the performance on Friday. Contact agarland@lakelandk12.org if you are interested.”
