In his daily press briefing today (4.2.20), Gov. Bill Lee announced Executive Order 23 requiring that Tennesseans stay home unless they are carrying out essential activities, as data shows an increase in citizen movement across the state. The executive order remains in effect until April 14, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.
The Governor said, “Over the last two or three days, we’ve seen troubling data points that tell us that some in our state may not be staying in place as much as we would hope.
“While many Tennesseans have made good faith efforts to remain at home, recent myTDOT traffic patterns indicate that some citizens are beginning to disregard safer at home measures. This is dangerous, unacceptable, and a threat to lives in our state.
“For that reason, I went a step further with my safer at home order and have said that Tennesseans must remain at home unless they are engaging in essential activity.
“Staying home isn’t an option – it’s a requirement for the swift defeat of COVID-19”.
In his briefing, the Governor said there are 2,845 COVID-19 cases in Tennessee, 32 Tennesseans have lost their lives to COVID-19 and there have been 32,611 total tests.
