Early vote starts next week for August election

Early voting starts next week in the Shelby County General Election and State/Federal Primary and Memphis Special, according to the Shelby County Election Commission (SCEC).

Initially only three locations will be open for early voting July 13-17.  The Refuge Church, 9817 Huff N Puff Rd in Lakeland, and other locations will be open for early voting July 18 until July 28.

First early voting locations are:

Abundant Grace Fellowship Church 1574 E. Shelby Dr. Memphis

New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church 7786 Poplar Pike Germantown

Shelby County Election Commission 980 Nixon Drive Memphis

The election Aug. 2 includes state positions of governor, U.S. House and Senate, Tennessee and local offices.  One candidate is from Lakeland: Chris Thomas is seeking the position of probate court clerk.

The election to select a mayor, commissioners and school board members for Lakeland is Nov. 6, part of the state and federal general and municipal election.
