A cast and stage crew of 70 will be part of the annual play at LES (Lakeland Elementary School) next month in the school cafeteria.
Disney Aladdin Kids will be performed at 6 p.m. Feb. 7th and 4 p.m. Feb. 8th, sponsored by the LES PTA and is open to the community.
The musical adventure is filled with magic, mayhem and the power of love and based on the animated film.
Lauren Baird, LES PTA vice president of cultural arts, said the cast includes students in kindergarten through fourth grade, with backstage crew from third and fourth grades. Others on the PTA Play Crew Committee are Jenny Kiesel, Amy Adler and Emily Spiceland.
Robin Smith, LES music teacher, is directing the play. She and Kristen Nichols, LES second grade teacher, are making costumes and headgear along with volunteer moms.
The students are practicing weekly at 7:45 a.m. Tuesdays.
Mrs. Baird said, “The PTA does sponsor it and we have gotten several business in the community who have made sponsor donations to help us do the extra little things to really bring it to life and make it a great experience for the kids. We are so thankful for a community that invests in the children and the arts.”
