Trees are felled and mounds of topsoil are disappearing, but when will foundations be poured and vertical construction start at The Lake District (TLD) at I-40 and Canada Road?
Yehuda Netanel, owner of TLD, was in Lakeland today (5.23.19) and said he expects foundation laying to start in September followed by vertical construction.
He spoke to Lakeland Currents on the location of the 160+-acre mixed-use development where the Phase 1 retail schedule of delivery of space for tenant build out is fall of 2020, with businesses opening for the 2020 holidays.
He said there are approximately three weeks of grading work and compaction and he is excited about the rapid progress. Over the last few days, he said, there have been approximately 12 trucks removing topsoil. He anticipates starting on a system of storm drains the middle of July which will serve the entire project.
In August, Mr. Netanel expects to submit working drawings to the City of Lakeland for phase 1 retail of TLD. In September, he said workers will start foundations and vertical construction.
