One Lakeland resident is among a myriad of candidates running in the Aug. 2 Shelby County general and state primary and Memphis special election.
Chris Thomas of Lakeland is seeking the position of probate court clerk in the August race.
Tuesday (7.3.18) is the last day to register to vote for the August election.
Early voting begins July 13 and ends July 28. If you wait until the actual Election Day to vote (Aug. 2), you must vote at the location for your precinct.

Elections in Lakeland will be Nov. 6 as part of state and federal general and municipal races. There are three slots opening on the Lakeland School Board, as well as two Lakeland commissioner slots and the position of Mayor.
The qualifying deadline for that election is noon Aug. 16 and the withdrawal deadline is noon Aug. 23.
Voter registration deadline is Oct. 9. Early voting is Oct. 17 – Nov. 1.
