According to the most recent data released by the Shelby County Health Department, the positive trend of falling cases continued into the week of August 23, 2020. Those numbers reflect totals within Shelby County. The week before also showed a trend down in cases for the county.
Since last week, the county reported new cases of the virus are down 384 cases. Current cases of the virus are also down 594 cases. What some consider even better news, acute care cases of the coronavirus dropped 43 cases and ICU beds currently are also down by 18.

Commissioner Mick Wright, Shelby County Commissioner representing the Bartlett and Lakeland areas seemed positive when Lakeland Currents reached out for his thoughts on the recent trends. Mr. Wright said, “I would encourage everyone to follow the larger trends rather than the daily numbers, adding as much context as we can take in. Doing both gives us reason for cautious optimism.”
