Free admission. Free solar eclipse glasses. Free document shredding. Free entertainment and prizes. All part of the annual Community Expo from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (8.19.17), sponsored by the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce.
Dozens of exhibitors will be at the venue site, Lakeland Elementary School (LES), 10050 Oak Seed Lane, including local area retailers, recreation and tourism providers, community groups, athletic groups and food trucks.
Brittney Buchanan, executive director of the C of C, said there will be exclusive Lakeland solar eclipse glasses. She said 1,000 were ordered and some will be given to participating vendors to give to their customers, the rest given to attendees as long as supplies last.
The UPS Store, 9160 U. S. Highway 64 in Lakeland, will have a shred truck in the parking lot to provide onsite document shredding free of charge said Mrs. Buchanan.
“This year we are excited to have Q107.5 on site broadcasting live from the event. They will be providing entertainment as well as giving out prizes,” said Mrs. Buchanan.
Caliente Food truck, Pink Flamingo Catering and Beaker’s Sno Cones truck will be outside at LES as well as several food vendors inside.
“For children, we will have a balloon artist and face painting. A special visit by Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and McGruff the Crime Dog will be part of the fun too,” added Mrs. Buchanan.
