Lakeland city officials are calling on residents to step up and serve their community by volunteering for open positions on two vital boards: the Community Advisory Board (CAB) and the Parks and Recreation Board (PRB). These boards play an essential role in shaping the future of Lakeland’s neighborhoods and recreational spaces.
Community Advisory Board (CAB)
The CAB currently has two open positions:
- District 1 Citizen Member Seat: This position is open exclusively to residents of District 1. The city is eager to fill this long-vacant seat to ensure proper representation for the northern part of Lakeland.
- At-Large Member Seat: This seat is open to residents from any district. At-Large members are tasked with filling in for citizen seats during absences, ensuring meetings meet quorum requirements. While district diversity is encouraged, applicants from all areas are welcome.
The CAB meets every other month on the second Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., beginning in February.
Parks and Recreation Board (PRB)
The PRB also has two open positions for volunteers passionate about Lakeland’s recreational and natural spaces. The board reviews and recommends plans for park development, recreation programs, and the conservation of natural resources.
PRB meetings occur every other month on the second Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., starting in January.
How to Apply
Residents interested in serving on either board can submit their applications online by visiting the official Lakeland application page.
