The Lake District (TLD) announced today (5.16.19) that Phillip Ashley Chocolates, confection designer for Oscar winners and St. Jude patients alike, is joining a growing list of chef-driven restaurants in phase one of its 160+ acre mixed-use community.
Owner Phillip Ashley Rix hails from Memphis, and this “real life Willy Wonka” (Forbes Magazine) makes hand-crafted chocolates that dazzle eyes and palates around the world, according to Yehuda Netanel, founder of TLD.
Mr. Rix said, “I am truly honored and looking forward to being a part of The Lake District. We are going to create a one-of-a-kind experience worthy of such an incredible development.” Mr. Netanel expects residents and visitors to savor the splendor of Phillip Ashley Chocolates. “The Lake District is the crown jewel of the region, and now we have a chef whose chocolates possess the beauty of actual jewels. And the taste? Well, you’ll just have to try them. The truffles defy description.”
The chocolatier is a dedicated supporter of small businesses and, in 2016, introduced the Imagination in a Box chocolates to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The one-time Apple business manager is a self-taught confectioner, and he uses only the finest fair-trade and seasonal ingredients to craft chocolates that are visually stunning and tastefully decadent.
Maggie Gallagher, director of development at The Lake District, says, “Phillip Ashley’s signature chocolates deliver a multiplier effect to the comfort and beauty of The Lake District. With their long-standing relationship with The Neiman Marcus Group, Phillip Ashley Chocolates occupy a distinctive position in the luxury dessert market. I’m sure our clientele will soon agree that an evening at The Lake District is incomplete without a visit to Phillip Ashley Chocolates.”
The confection designer was featured at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards and offered his line of designer chocolates at an exclusive Oscar Party Salute in 2016 in Hollywood.
Restaurants announced to date for the mixed-use, high-end development include Frida’s Restaurante Mexicano, Osaka Japanese Cuisine and Memphis BBQ Co.
In addition to the restaurants, the growing list of tenants at The Lake District also includes Brickhouse Fitness, Elite Total Health, Starbucks, Malco Theatres, Gould’s Salon and Spa, Gloss Nail Bar, The Stock Market and Hollywood Feed. More announcements coming soon according to Mrs. Gallagher.
