Chamber Golf Tournament Best To Date

Tony Brown gives the thumbs up at the Chamber tournament as his wife Kembree waves to the golfers in the backgrounud.

The annual Lakeland Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament was held this past Monday on September 27th and officials say it was the most successful to date.

Over 23 teams, each with 4 players, participated under warm and sunny skies at Stonebridge Golf Course to help raise money for Lakeland schools. School officials like Superintendent Dr. Ted Horrell, LPS Principal Corrie Martin, and LES Principal Joretha Lockhart all attended so they could thank everyone for participating. Principal Corrie Martin said, “It’s so neat seeing how our amazing parent organizations and community partners come together to create such a great event. We are grateful for this support.”

Lakeland Chamber of Commerce Director Brittney Buchanan told Lakeland Currents the event continues to grow and the community continues to impress. “Each year this event gets bigger and better. We are so thankful for all of our business sponsors and donors as well as the families that signed up as sponsors. Thank you to all of the golf teams – representing over 19 businesses – and the golfers that come out to have a great time as well as to support the Lakeland Community,” Mrs. Buchanan said.

A record number of teams participated in the 2021 Chamber tournament.

Over 50 business and family sponsors helped donate items for the auction, adding to the day’s festivities and underscores how much the local community wants to support Lakeland schools. Mrs. Buchanan confirmed that saying, “The sense of pride that comes from everyone involved is overwhelming. The volunteers from the (Lakeland) PTA and PTO work hard to make sure everything runs smoothly and most importantly, that everyone has fun! The Chamber board and staff along with the volunteers work for months to plan and organize every detail. This event brings our city together in many ways and we hope to continue to host it for years to come.”

The amount of money raised from the event is expected to be released later this week.
