As part of the MEMFIX 4 Project in East Memphis, Poplar Avenue east and west will be closed over the weekend starting at 9 p.m. Friday (7.13.18)
Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews will temporarily close a stretch of Poplar Avenue this weekend for construction activities such as driving additional piling near the current Poplar Avenue bridges and utility work.
Both eastbound and westbound on Poplar Avenue will be closed the same hours, 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday. A story earlier this month noted there would be a three-hour difference in the closing times.
Nichole Lawrence, TDOT Community Relations, said there was confusion about the different closing times so both were moved to a 9 p.m. close. Originally westbound was to close at midnight but will now be shut down at 9 p.m.
The weekend CLOSURES are as follows:
- Friday, July 13 – 9 p.m. until Monday, July 16 – 6 a.m. – Poplar Avenue eastbound and westbound will be closed at the I-240 interchange. There will be ramps affected and closed; however, I-240 will remain open. See map.
