The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) has announced the arrest of two individuals in connection with a significant car burglary incident at Lakeland Town Square. According to a press release issued by the SCSO, officers responded to reports of multiple vehicle break-ins in the area of the mixed used development.
SCSO detectives swiftly identified Jevon Jones, 18, as a suspect, along with a 16-year-old whose name has been withheld due to being a minor. Both individuals were found in possession of a stolen vehicle. Additionally, a 15-year-old teen was present in the vehicle and was transported on an active warrant out of Millington.
Jones has been charged with 15 counts of burglary of a motor vehicle, theft of property, and possession of burglary tools. The 16-year-old has been charged with theft of property.
Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Jr., expressed his concern over the persistent issues of burglary and theft from motor vehicles in the community. “Burglary and deaths from motor vehicles are persistent problems,” said Sheriff Floyd Bonner, Jr in the press release. “I am encouraged that our detectives are quickly able to make a rest and hopefully bring some comfort to the victims of these crimes.” He also praised the detectives for their quick response in making the arrests and hoped that this would bring some comfort to the victims of these crimes.
The SCSO also extended its thanks to the Bartlett PD crime suppression unit and the MPD Appling Farms task force for their assistance in apprehending the suspects.
