The annual fishing rodeo at IH Managerial Park Lake is set for tomorrow and families are gearing up for a fun day outdoors. The event, which takes place on Saturday, May 13th, is the perfect opportunity for children between the ages of 4 and 12 to learn the basics of fishing and enjoy a day by the lake.
According to the city of Lakeland website, the fishing rodeo will begin at 8 a.m. and run in multiple sessions, each lasting up to 15 minutes or until both a boy and girl have caught a fish during the session. The event is free, but pre-registration is required before 11:59 pm on May 12, 2023.
Children are encouraged to bring their own pole and bait, and one pole per participant is allowed. For those who do not have fishing equipment, great starter kits can be found at Academy Sports, and stores like Bass Pro carry everything for your fishing needs.
The grand prize of the fishing rodeo is a trophy awarded in three categories: longest fish of the day, most fish caught overall by a boy, and most fish caught overall by a girl. In addition, prizes will be awarded to the first boy and first girl to catch a fish within each fishing session.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency may also award additional prizes at their discretion.
The fishing rodeo at IH Managerial Park Lake is a fantastic opportunity for families to get outdoors, unplug from technology, and enjoy a day by the lake. Don’t forget to register before the deadline and bring your fishing gear for a chance to win some great prizes!
