Altercation Monday at Econo Lodge leads to injury, arrest

A love triangle led to a stabbing at the Econo Lodge, 9822 Huff N Puff Rd, yesterday morning (10.29.18) resulting in one arrest and one transport to an area hospital, according to Lt. Anthony Buckner, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) public information officer.

After responding to a call at the Motel, SCSO deputies discovered a man at the Shelby County Fire Department (SCFD), 9774 Beverle Rivera Dr., station 65 with a stab wound to the abdomen, according to Lt. Buckneer.  The man told deputies he was stabbed by Mitchell Hamilton after a dispute at the Motel.

Deputies located Mr.  Hamilton, 54, inside his hotel room still in possession of the knife used to stab the victim. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Lt. Buckner said it was a dispute between two men over a woman. The victim was transported to Regional One Health in non-critical condition.
