An alleged road rage incident found its way from I-40 this afternoon (8.4.19), down U.S. Highway 64 and into the Sprouts Farmers Market parking lot at Highway 64 and Fletcher Trace Parkway. There were no injuries or shootings, according to an eyewitness. It happened mid-afternoon.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deputies located some potential hazardous materials inside one of the involved vehicles.
Jesse Allen of Lakeland said he was on I-40 when the driver of a red Jeep Cherokee tried to ram his vehicle and also tried to block a Sierra GMC truck.
The Jeep went into the Sprouts parking lot, the truck stopped by the Lakeland Starbuck’s, according to Mr. Allen.
Mr. Allen said he called 911.
A large portion of the shopping center parking lot was cordoned off with yellow crime tape and numerous first responder vehicles.
